Let's lose 10 pounds in 5 weeks, Jones

Got one of the books for the clean eating adventure. Just waiting on a few more to come in at the library. I was looking at all the recipes this afternoon and to my surprise, I am excited to start this adventure. Whenever I hear the word ‘diet’ I think of very limited, flavorless, crazy foods. But to my surprise, all the recipes are easy to make and use a lot of what I already have in the kitchen (minus the flour and sugar, but I will pick that up tomorrow). Anddd I actually know what the ingredients are, added bonus!!!
So I’m not going to look at this as a diet but rather a lifestyle change. I am hoping this will show me to take the time to care about what i am putting in my body and then my body will hopefully return the favor :)This will be me (and my husband too) changing the ingredients in recipes we already love with more veggies/fruits/non-processed stuff. And to have my husband by my side, supporting me, and involved in this journey with me is a great feeling :)

Doesnt this sound delish…in a month jones, in a month.

Greek yogurt strawberry bread

1.5 cups whole wheat pastry flour + 3Tbsp
1.5 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/2 cup brown sugar (or 1/4 cup Xagave)
3 large ripe bananas
2 eggs
6 oz. Chobani Strawberry Banana Greek yogurt
1 cup diced fresh strawberries
Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Start by combining flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
In a separate bowl, mash bananas with a fork until they are gooey and liquid-like.
Add eggs and sugar… mix thoroughly.
Add greek yogurt
Whisk until everything is well combined and there are no lumps.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and mix until just combined. At this point, fold in the fresh strawberries!
Pour batter into a greased loaf pan and distribute evenly.
Put into the oven and bake for one hour, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Transfer to a cooling rack and (try to) let the bread cool for at least ten minutes before slicing.

Bootcamp- done
First clean meal-demolished (no pic because we were WAY too hungry to think about that)

Bootcamp was outside today, which I loved. When I workout outside I feel so much better and feel like I can do double the work. I’m not sure if it’s because more people can see me outside and I don’t want them to think the chubby girl can’t keep up or if it’s from the fresh air. Whatever it is, I like it! And us Ohioans need to take advantage of these nice days, they only last a few months.

At bootcamp we did not use any weights. We focused on stability and cardio. We used our body weight as resistance. I love doing that kind of stuff , a change to the norm. Which is good for me because I get bored easily then quit. Not good!

Now I’m enjoying the cool evening outside with the pups :)

Let’s see here…

What’s been going on with the love handles? Lots of running, eating better, and gardening. OMG the gardening…talk about a work out. Ry and I did the majority of it yesterday and just now finished this evening.
Total miles ran this weekend: 12 :).
It should have been higher but Ryan ran me around every store this weekend for plants or stuff for the deck.

Like I said earlier we are going to try out the clean diet. I bought a few of the staple items tonight so i need to go out tomorrow after bootcamp to get a weeks worth of food. I’m hoping I can stick with it for a month. Ya, a month sounds good.

No races this weekend which is nice. I am on call at work and would like a break after all the running around we did this weekend.

Oh, and I’m so proud of myself that I controlled my eating over the weekend. This is another one of those obstacles I need to overcome. Whenever I think of the perfect weekend I think of lounging around and eating whatever I want and not gain a pound or feel gross. Well, we all know that last part is a long shot, but a girl can dream!

It’s official….

The jones’ will be jumping on the eat clean bandwagon. Ryan wants to get a visible 6 pack (he’s already thin). And me, well we all know I’m here to shed the LBS!!!
Im going out tomorrow to buy my guideline and then we will start it on Saturday. I would start on Thursday but that is Ryan’s day to cook and I don’t want to overwhelm him on the first day. This is a team thing :)

Goals updated! I tried to set my goal prizes as something I can use to continue on my healthy journey. I know some of these are a bit pricey, but after thinking it over, it’s a small price to pay to live a healthy and active lifestyle. And of course the husband wants a kayak when I get mine. I don’t want him to mooch off my weight loss goal so I need to think of a goal for him too :).

Ran 2 miles in 22 minutes this evening. Bought some running shorts for the first time and heres my thought on them:
-they have built in undies (funny!)
-they ride up like I thought they would
- compression shorts under them are a must next time
- made me feel like a runner…kind of :)
- guess I will break down and buy more :)

Today’s food log was bad, not in the sense that I ate bad foods but on the sense that I didn’t eat much:

Breakfast- bottle of water
Lunch- bottle of water and coffee
Snack- dr pepper jelly beans
Dinner-grilled BBQ chicken, grilled potatoes, and a spinach salad with pomegranate.
Snack- that yummy dip I made

So why was I not hungry today? We did. Mad amounts of yard work…in the heat. I usually don’t have an appetite when I’m in the heat. Today proved that. But man did the yard work give us a good workout. I love working out and not realizing it :). Indeed to work on eating when im not hungry. Gots to keep the metabolism going!

Well that bootcamp hurt

It was hot, super hot. Not outside but inside the gym. I could not catch my breathe to save my life. I started to get dizzy. As if that was torturous enough, Matt (instructor) had us go outside and run suicides and do push ups in the hot and humid weather. I’m sure it wasn’t that bad, but the whole lack of breathing really made things more difficult. I cant complain too much though, because I am not sure if it was something I did. Maybe I didn’t drink enough water thru out the day or maybe it happened because I did not stretch before class since I was running late. Who knows. But I think I’m going to up my minimum water intake from 2 liters to 3 liters since its getting warmer outside, Matt wants to torture us, and I have to up my work outs as well.
Food log:

Breakfast-oatmeal with chia seeds (shocked? Ha!) and watermelon

Snack-1 pretzel rod and almonds

Lunch- grilled chicken (from last night) and raw peppers

Dinner- chicken and rice

Snack- carrots and that dip I made

I was hungry all day for some reason. So I’m thinking I need to reevaluate my meal planning. Maybe add a little take a little from each.

And the verdicts in… So delish! I knew I would like avocados, I just have to mask its natural flavor. This dip was made with greek yogurt, avocado, lemon juice, and spices.

The indians game last night was so much fun. Stayed in the suite, ate food (I had popcorn), and enjoyed an exciting yet rival game. Indians won :)

Tonight I’m going for a short run then doing some commercial workouts with the hubs. And I have Togo grocery shopping. I hate grocery shopping. I also being fat. So I will love to hate going grocery shopping.
